What is the best age for massage?
If you, as a parent, are performing massage yourself, a baby can receive gentle touch and stroking from the moment he is born. Newborns are reassured by skin contact and it helps to establish bonds between a parent and a baby. Babies and women traditionally receive pre- and post- natal massage. You can start massaging a baby by yourself for a prophylactic purpose slightly longer once he reaches 8 weeks of age and if he does not have any medical issues. If a child has health issues, please consult your treating physician before commencing any massage.
