Infant Tip Toe Walking Treatment
Tip Toe Walking is a situation when the children are walking on their toes and balls of their feet, and don’t use their flat feet and ankle to support themselves. It is very common in young children, 3 years old and younger, but can persist in the older kids, having some underlying conditions. Those can be tight calf muscles or a short Achilles tendon; sign of conditions that impact motor skills, like autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, ADHD, and muscular dystrophy. Talking to the child’s pediatrician is always a good first step. A pediatrician will be able to assess the child development, family history, and other explanations for child’s walking pattern.
After seeing the doctor and excluding other issues and concerns, the massage therapy is recommended. If the child needs a surgical treatment and a cast, the massage can be applied after the cast is removed. That will increase blood flow in the area, release the high muscle tone, and stretch the Achilleas Tendons, which ease child’s walking.
