Infant Colic Treatment
Colic is when your baby is fussy and cries often for no evident reason. It is frequent and may happen every day within a certain period of time. Usually, it happens between 6 pm and midnight, starting at the age of 2-3 weeks and lasting for a few months. It can persist until 6 months of age.
There is no definite explanation for colic. There are several factors that can induce colic:
- Spasm in digestive system muscles
- Discomfort or pain from gas or indigestion
- Sensitivity to the ingredients from breast milk or formula
- A developing nervous system, fear, frustration, or excitement;
- Overstimulation
There are many situations that look like colic. Therefore, it is better to check with your doctor or pediatrician first to ensure that your baby is fine and eliminate other reasons for baby’s crying and being fussy. Massage helps elevate the symptoms of colic.
